Theater Western Pomerania

Philharmonic concerts, music theater & ballet at the Greifswald Theater

The Greifswald Theater on Robert-Blum-Strasse opened its doors on October 10, 1915, in the middle of the First World War. In the roughly 100 years of its existence, it has long been an independent municipal theater with its own acting ensemble. Today, as the Theater Vorpommern, it is - similar to what it was between 1960 and 1968 - together with the theaters in Stralsund and Putbus, part of a large fusion theater with the divisions Music theatre, drama, ballet as well as children's and youth theatre.

The main venue of the Theater Vorpommern in Greifswald is the neo-classical Large House with 438 seats. In-house productions of drama, ballet and music theater as well as symphony concerts with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Western Pomerania take place here all year round. Other venues are the Rubenow Hall with 80 seats for studio productions, especially plays, and the foyer for readings, chamber concerts, work introductions and other discussion events. In summer, the open-air area at the museum harbor will be used as an additional venue for the Open Air Festival "AHOY - My Harbor Festival" added.

Info: The Greifswald Theater has to close for about three years due to renovation work at the end of the season in June 2022. The Stadthalle with the Kaisersaal and Rubenowsaal as well as other rooms are available as alternative venues.
