Arrival in Greifswald

Directions to Greifswald and mobility on site

The university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald is located 200 km north of Berlin and 100 km east of Rostock on the West Pomeranian Baltic Sea coast. The two holiday islands of Rügen (40 km) and Usedom (30 km) are only a few kilometers away and Stralsund can also be reached within a few minutes by car or train.

Arrival by train

The RE3 runs from Berlin to Greifswald every two hours. Travelers from the direction of Hamburg usually have to change trains in Rostock and/or Stralsund. The Usedomer Bäderbahn (UBB) runs several times a day on the Swinemünde - Züssow route. From there, the ODEG continues to Greifswald. Train travelers from the direction of Rügen take the train to Stralsund and change there to the RE3 to Greifswald.

Arrival by car

Coming from Berlin, follow the A20 in the direction of Lübeck/Stralsund/Prenzlau to exit 27 Gützkow. From there the L35 leads to Greifswald. Travelers from the direction of Hamburg first follow the A1 in the direction of Lübeck and change at the A24 motorway junction to the A20 in the direction of Rostock. At the Greifswald exit, follow the B109 to the center.

Arrival by long-distance bus

The ZOB in Greifswald is located directly at the train station and is served several times a day by various long-distance bus lines (e.g. Flixbus, Usedomer Bäderbahn). Within a few minutes' walk you can reach the historic old town via the ramparts. Alternatively, public transport buses run throughout the city.

Arrival by sailing boat

The guest berths in Greifswald-Wieck are allocated by the local port authority. Sailors still have the opportunity to follow the Ryck through the Wiecker Bridge towards the city center and there the guest berths from the Greifswald Museum Harbour or from Marina yacht center to use. Please note the opening hours of the Wiecker Bridge.

Airports: The nearest airports are in Heringsdorf/Usedom (75 km), Rostock-Laage (100 km), Berlin (260 km) and Hamburg (270 km). Between Rostock-Laage and Greifswald is a Shuttle service eingerichtet.

Parking spaces for coaches in the city center:

As part of a school route project, part of the bus parking lot in Rakower Straße has been converted into a "collect and deliver area". There are parking spaces for a maximum of 2 buses. You can find alternatives at Hansering.

Parking spaces for coaches in Wieck:

at the monastery ruins - car park Wolgaster Landstr. 42 (ATTENTION: currently not accessible due to construction work) - towards the city center a sign ("exit for tourist buses") indicates the existing bus stops behind the monastery ruins for boarding and alighting (no parking!). The bus parking lot at the port (in the street “An der Mühle”) is the closest parking option. This work is scheduled to end at the turn of the year.
