moor walk

The walk across the meadows near Greifswald, which Caspar David Friedrich captured in his picture of the same name, is a bit like the well-known children's game "I see something that you don't see". There is much to discover that cannot be seen at first glance. Because the painter's painting is about special meadows: they are moor meadows in front of the city gates. (Come along and find out more - because moors are not scary at all, but incredibly important - for climate protection, for everyone and forever).

Eleven thematic points clarify questions such as: what are bogs and how can they be recognized? How have moors been drained and used in the last few centuries? What do cows say about wet feet? Why does the ground on the bog meadows vibrate and taste peat? How does drainage affect the climate crisis and what opportunities do moors offer today?
