Greifswald Koeppentage

Literature festival in honor of the writer Wolfgang Koeppen

Since 2002, the Western Pomerania Literature Center has been based in the birthplace of the author Wolfgang Koeppen, who was born on June 23, 1906 in Greifswald. Established regionally and nationally as an important cultural institution, the Koeppenhaus manages the entire estate of the writer and honorary citizen of the city of Greifswald with the help of the Wolfgang Koeppen Archive. The highlight of the event is the Koeppentage - a literature festival in honor of Wolfgang Koeppen, which takes place every year in June. The Wolfgang Koeppen Prize, donated by the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald, is awarded every two years as part of the Koeppentage.

Review: Program 2018

With the Wolfgang Koeppen quote "Perhaps I loved the city", the Koeppenhaus is presenting this year's Greifswald Koeppentage. From June 22 to 29, 2018, readings, concerts, film screenings and exhibitions will focus on the writer Wolfgang Koeppen and his work. The festival poses the question of growing up in the provinces. Go or stay? How does a sense of belonging to a certain place arise? A special highlight this year is the presentation of the Wolfgang Koeppen Prize for Literature by the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald to the writer Christoph Peters.
