Beach Sea

Beaches, seaside resorts and swimming areas on the Baltic Sea and Greifswalder Bodden

Greifswald is a city by the sea - more precisely on the Greifswalder Bodden. The bay of the southern Baltic Sea is known for its long, shallow entrances and is therefore particularly popular with families, kitesurfers and windsurfers. On the coastline around Greifswald there are mainly natural, quiet beaches. The famous seaside resorts and beaches of the island of Usedom are only a few minutes away by car.

Lido Eldena

The city beach of Greifswald is five kilometers outside the center and is particularly child-friendly thanks to its shallow water zone and wide sandy area. The neighboring sailing school rents out sailing boats, surfing equipment and SUPs.

Natural beach in Ludwigsburg

Hidden in the Lanken nature reserve behind pine forests is the beach at Ludwigsburg. Whether sunbathing, a walk on the beach or a picnic at sunset - the natural sandy beach with a view of the Danish Wiek is a little insider tip.

Natural beaches Loissin & Gahlkow

A hotspot for kite and windsurfers are the beaches near Loissin and Gahlkow. The local surf schools offer courses for beginners and advanced surfers as well as equipment for rent. The beaches are equally popular with swimmers.

Natural beach Vierow

The natural beach of the same name is located near the small industrial port of Vierow. The famous painter Caspar David Friedrich already drew the landscape here. In about 30 minutes you can walk along the beach to the neighboring seaside resort of Lubmin.

Seaside resort of Lubmin

Lubmin is the only seaside resort on the Greifswalder Bodden and is 20 minutes by car east of Greifswald. The five-kilometre-long beach has everything you would expect from a Baltic Sea beach: a pier, fine-grain sand, dunes and pine forests.

Usedom Island

With its 42 kilometers, Usedom has the longest sandy beach in Germany. From Greifswald to Zinnowitz it is around 45 minutes by car. The shortest way leads over the bridge at Wolgast. Alternatively, the train runs every hour.
